Like watching paint dry

So 2 weeks ago I got text from our GC that said they had 2 or 3 days on 1 house and 3 or 4 on another house and we would be all hands on deck. So I figured this would be the week that building would begin in earnest.
Sat night I received a text from him that said his number 2 guy had just suddenly quit.  No explanation just up and quit.  This is the guy who helps keep every job moving along and checks on all the jobs that the GC can't.  So I knew that somehow this would not be our week and I was right.
But I'm gonna make lemonade out of lemons here.  Let me preface this by saying I'm a very visual person.  I need drawings, I need pictures, I need graphs to be able to " see" what I'm trying to create.  Bob can do this kind of stuff in his head, probably because he is a fabricator.  He needs to be able to " see" it in his minds eye so that he can build it.  Me...not so much.
So with interior walls up and windows in I could see that we needed another window in the living room.
When we first drew the plan up the front door was centered in the " great room" space.  And so we had a window in the master bedroom, 2 double windows in the living room on the left side of the front door, 2 double windows on the right side and 1 window in each guest bedroom.  So there was a total of 7 windows across the front.  But we changed the front door so that it's more to the right and lined up with the back door and forgot to make that adjustment when orders were put in for windows.
Soooooo now that we have had some time to walk in the space we decided that we needed more light and since we had the original number of windows delivered we are going to go ahead and have that extra window added to the front.  Glad we discovered that little tidbit before the tin went on.  We also decided to add a small window in the master closet and another one in the mud/ laundry/utility room.  All great changes.
Another change we decided to make has to do with the floors.  Originally we were going to have all the floors stained and polished.  Now we have decided to put wood or an engineered wood floor down in the great room.  And that is because we have some cracks.  We expected some hairline cracks, all slabs have them but they are covered with wall to wall carpet or vinyl or tile.  No amount of stain is gonna hide these suckers and I absolutely hate wall to wall carpeting.  I wouldn't even be able to strategically place furniture or rugs to hide these babies, so wood it is.  It will also be a bit softer surface for my knee issue and my back issue.  The bathrooms will have tile floors because there are a couple of rough spots in the concrete that are in major traffic areas and if someone were barefoot they might stub a toe.  And we cannot have that happen and there are also some cracks in both bathrooms that won't be covered by rugs or stain or the vanity so we are gonna do tile.
Now we just have to pick tile, flooring and granite for the kitchen.
I picked some granite for the kitchen a while ago and the slabs have our name on them but I'm thinking that I like it better for the bathrooms.  Tomorrow Bob and I are gonna go look at some granite in Pflugerville.  Fingers crossed we fall in love with what we saw on the website!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Blogger has informed me that my subscription service will no longer work with this blog.  They are moving toward a more stable platform and getting rid of some things like the subscription services.  They also do not have something at this time to replace it.

I don't imagine I have that many people who are reading this on a regular basis but did want to let you know that when I post now you will NOT get a notice that I have a new post.  Sorry, not my doing.

I guess my advice to everyone who is reading is to just keep checking back for new posts and you can also follow my Instagram account @LynKulczykPool.  It won't be as wordy but it will alert you to a new post so if you like to read you can.

Agggghhhhhhhh!

So we had a great start and then everything came to a screeching halt.  All weather related.
Windows got put in last week although we are left scrating our heads about this because there is still the metal framing to be done and that means welding which means sparks and slag which could leave to pitted glass and spatter on the window frames.  Haven't been able to talk to our GC about this yet cause windows were installed on Friday.  We do respect weekends although with this many weather delays we would be very happy when weather is gorgeous on the weekend if they would work to catch up.

End of day 2 1/2

Just pictures to show you progress.  Not much to be said.  Metal work will be next.  This crew wants to do that as well.  We had another crew that was supposed to do the metal but hes still tied up with another job.  GC might want to stick with Fat Max crew because they have been so productive.  We will see

End of day one and a half.

This crew is the bomb.  Fat Max Framing and Carpentry really dont waste any time putting it together.
So that's both sides interior framing almost complete.  The joists for the ceiling in the middle section are not here but we expect delivery tomorrow.  Crew will probably work on another job tomorrow because we dont know when delivery will be.  I'll attach a video of the walk thru so you can see.
