Granite and more

So going to Pflugerville turned out to be just what I'd hoped in terms of finding something that we both loved.  They have pictures of what slabs are in stock and we'd written the names down so we could look at them as well as look at everything they had.
We arrived at the showroom and got right to it...I followed the salesman to the particular pieces and Bob wandered around looking.
The first piece we chose was only available in what they call " leathered" finish.  It's a rough finish, not polished but not all sharp and edgie.  Leathered describes it perfectly because it looks and feels like leather.  The second piece I didnt like as much as I thought I would and was just going to find the third piece when Bob yelled, " Hey babe, come look at this!"
And this was what he was looking at.
Holy toledo...that's not what I had imagined but I loved it immediately and so did he....that is it.  So we reserved 2 slabs. The island, countertops and backsplash for the kitchen will be made out of this.  It's just so different from anything we'd looked at and we both love it.  The granite that I picked out for the kitchen a while ago will now be used in both bathrooms as vanities and backsplashes.  And it looks like this.
Sorry about the picture of a picture.  For some reason even though I can find it on my phone Blogger cant seem to locate it so I was left taking a screen shot of it.
So now we need to pick out wood for an " Engineered Hardwood floor and tile for bathroom floors and shower stalls.  We'd heard about a place in Marble Falls that has a fairly large selection of both so headed there today.
We've decided that our basic wall color is a sort of cream color with a dash of cinnamon added....so not as dark as beige and not as white as eggshell, something kinda in between.  We both want a real kinda rustic look to the bathrooms and we both really like slate so this is what we found.
The tile on the bottom left will be floor tile for both bathrooms.  The tile above it will be the walls of both showers in master and guest bathrooms and the tub surround in the guest bathroom.  The pebble tile will be shower bottom in the guest bathroom.  And next picture shows pebble tile for shower floor in master shower.
And now several hours later I'm wondering if I should maybe go with a much lighter floor.  I have plenty of time to think on this a bit more before we purchase and it feels good to have these decisions partially made.
This is what we choose for the floor in the great room.
This is called Natural Acacia and its finish is called hand scraped.  So what you cant see is that its smooth but it's not perfectly flat.  It's got some dips in it like a real piece of wood would have and it looks much more natural which is what we were after.
It's been more than a month since any work was done on the house and we had a conversation with our GC.  It's just been a really weird year in that we've had a very wet summer, the pandemic has made getting materials difficult and hes had a rash of workers quit.  I think the workers quitting is just the nature of construction work over the whole industry.  Unless you are the top dog or a craftsman you end up working long hours for low pay in a lot of horrible weather.  It's the nature of the beast.  Everyone is supposed to be back this week coming up so fingers crossed that all the delays are behind us and it will be balls to the wall until it's done.
