They're Back!!!!!

So after more than a month of delays the next crew is here and working. This is the Metal Welding Crew.
They are normally the first crew here after the slab is poured but because our General wanted to keep moving forward and this crew wasnt available then they built the inside framing first and the welding would be done after.
So although it doesnt look like a lot was done...A LOT was done.
Those brown or rust colored uprights...one in almost the center of the 2 windows and one on the corner...those are the things that the main rafters will be welded to.  There are 8 total uprights...4 corners and 2 on the front of the house and 2 on the back.
The next picture will probably have you scratching your head and if you arent a welder it wont make much sense so it's more for my own record than anything else.  But heres the explanation.
When a house is framed in metal or you build a metal building you have to have something to weld those uprights to so you have what are called well plates.  I think I pointed them out in slab talk.  Anyway the 2 center uprights were put in the slab at those particular places because of wall placement.  Once the house gets sheetrocked you wont see those massive I beam rafters.  BUT the framers came in first and so there was no way to weld the uprights on all four sides to the well plate because of the wood framing.  Bob saw this problem and solved it by making another plate and welding the upright to it, sticking it in the slot on top of the other well plate and to the side and welded it that way.  The picture below illustrates it.  Like I said, more for me than you all.
Last picture is of the rafters.  They've got all the tabs welded in...and all the rafters are done so they will put them up tomorrow.  Then they put up the purlins on the rafters, weld them in place and we are ready to put the roof tin on.  We are short some purlins so hopefully we will get them in quickly and the guys can keep working.
